Repetition is at the center of personal awareness. I took on this project fifteen years ago - to collect and catalogue the dirt and sand I've encountered from my travels around the world. From the initial moment of realizing a new location, to selecting the dirt, to transporting it across land and ocean, to the labeling and display of the collection - this project has created it's own form of meditative nostalgia for a place and the person I was at that moment.
